Why is Air Purification Important?

Feb 18, 2023

Air purification is important because it helps to remove harmful toxins and pollutants from the air we breathe.

Sometimes the air around us can contain things like smoke, dust, mold, and even chemicals that are harmful to our health. These toxins can cause a variety of health problems, including coughing, sneezing, headaches, and even more serious issues like asthma and lung disease.

There are several methods of air purification, including air filters and air reactors like UV lights and ozone. Air filters work by trapping harmful particles and pollutants as they circulate through the air while air reactors work by destroying contaminants at a molecular level.

So which one is best? Let’s break it down based on your goals.

Air filters remove particles by trapping them in a filter. Filters differ in size and composition to filter out various pollutants. The most common pollutants are:

  • Mold
  • VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds)
  • POPs (Persistent Organic Pollutants)
  • Pet Dander
  • Smoke
  • Dust
  • Gasses
  • Bacteria and Viruses

There are three brands I know and trust and would recommend you consider if shopping for a home, office, or car purification system.

  1. IQAir
  2. AirDoctor
  3. HighTech Air

IQ Air has whole home filtration units that plug into your existing HVAC system, smaller units for bedrooms and apartments, as well as personal-sized units perfect for small office desk spaces and cars. Here’s a statement from the manufacturer about the quality of their filters:

“IQAir’s HyperHEPA filtration in the GC MultiGas filters 95% of all particles down to 0.003 microns – as small as the smallest virus. Filters allergens, bacteria, and viruses like SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for COVID-19. Removes airborne particles and traps them on filter materials – where they can’t escape.”

AirDoctor offers 4 filtration units that are perfect for home or office. Here is a brief description from their website:

“You can remove smoke, bacteria, viruses, pet dander, pollen, and mold from the air with AirDoctor’s air purifiers. The air purifier claims to remove everything from tiny viruses and bacteria (0.06 to 0.2 microns) to larger mold and pollen particles (10 to 20 microns).”

HighTech Air purifiers are the Cadillacs of air purification, especially when it comes to mold and microbes. It doesn't just trap the pollutants in a filter, it literally makes tiny soldiers and spits them out into the room to destroy all contaminants- both in the air and on surfaces. If mold is your issue, this is the machine you want.

If you want to order from High Tech, just email Ray at [email protected] and please tell him I sent you! They don't offer discounts except in their twice-yearly sale, but I do get a small referral kickback which is much appreciated.

Choosing an air purifier doesn't have to be complex, just choose the model within your budget and sleep easy knowing your family is breathing fresh, clean air.

Also, don't forget to change your HVAC filters every 3 months, this alone can be game-changing when it comes to reducing your baseline toxin exposure.
